This lecture explores the role of the physiotherapist in managing patients with Asthma. In this lecture we review the physiology, diagnosis and treatment of Asthma including the vast number of treatable traits amenable to physiotherapy.

Learning outcomes:

Understand the physiology and aetiology of asthma
Be able to accurately assess for common signs and symptoms of asthma
Understand the pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments of asthma
Appreciate the role of the physiotherapist in asthma management including the diagnosis and treatment of dysfunctional breathing patterns
